Welcome...

To the ultimate horsemanship resource!

Jack

UPDATE 1/11/09:
< NEW TRAINERS ADDED!!!

The Australian Horsemanship Network has been created with one specific simple purpose - to educate Australian horse owners/riders for their own benefit, and that of their horses. The aim is to create the ultimate online horsemanship resource, covering every topic possible, so that anyone with internet access can find the help they need in one place.

SUBMISSIONS DESPERATELY REQUIRED FROM ANY HORSE PROFESSIONALS - TRAINERS/VETS/FARRIERS/SADDLERS/RIDERS etc.

Also seeking submissions from riders and horse owners who wish to share their own experiences!

Horsemanship to me is learning how to work WITH a horse, using pyschology and communication that THEY understand. Developing feel, timing, balance, understanding and trust. This applies to ground handling and ridden training. Horsemanship applies to every discipline, every riding style, every standard/level of rider and horse. I also believe that horsemanship applies to the way in which we care for our horses. Horsemanship also means different things to different people. This site hopes to cover it all, from every perspective.

To gain the most benefit from this site you will need to do two very important things. Firstly you are going to need to leave your ego at the door. Sometimes its not easy for us humans to admit that we have run out of answers or that what we have been doing (quite often for many years) is not working. A lot of us also tend to think that our way is the best way, when it just might not be or someone else's thinking might be valid too. The second - you must keep an open mind. If you do not, you cannot learn. I am a firm believer that you can learn something from everyone and everything, even if all you learn is 'what not to do'. Plus when it comes to horses, you can never know it all!

Please browse the different sections of the site to get a feel for whats on offer. Keep in mind though, that this site is in its early stages, so more and more content will be added over time.

Submissions are invited from interested trainers, and equine professionals in any area who wish to be share their knowledge in the form of articles. Or, if you are simply a horse owner or rider with a topic you feel strongly about, we want you too! These articles are voluntary, but offer great exposure.

Please email submissions or submission enquiries to submissions@horsemanshipnetwork.com.au.

I hope you enjoy the site and keep checking back for updates. Any feedback or queries can be emailed to info@horsemanshipnetwork.com.au.

This site is dedicated to my Jack (pictured above) - he has been and continues to be, my greatest teacher, and best mate.
